How To Make Your Stay More Perfect at Ixtapan Spa

Here are a few tips:
–Arrive on a Sunday for quicker transfers from Mexico City.
–Move around either in our gardens or modern gym to uncurl your legs. Take it slowly at first and remember to drink loads of water (bottled water is free here).
–While in the gym, read the fitness class schedule, usually posted on the yoga room door.
–Stop in the fabulous silver shop in the hotel for a panorama of Mexican silver. Check out the Holistic Spa and book yourself a treat there.
–Get organized in your room and put out your walking clothes for the next day AM walk .
–At dinner enjoy the company of your group or new friends at a communal table. Ask women you meet for their insider tips.
–Most Sundays we have orientation after dinner, do attend for additional information you will benefit from during your stay.

Each Friday we post a weekend tip on our Facebook page. Perhaps you would like to know what at weekend at Ixtapan Spa is like?

Gorgeous to See, Delicious to Drink: Hibiscus

Saturday is active from a 7AM brisk scenic walk , choices of fitness classes both in our gym and in the pools until 1PM. 1PM onwards is lunch outdoors in our perfect air. Most women do treatments in the afternoon. And many like lying around the pool or in the magnficent gardens with a good book.

Saturdays are also a big day in town, with stalls selling crafts made locally. Women will walk into Ixtapan de la Sal for hand made textiles, silver, pewter, candles, wood…. The merchants know our guests and try hard to please us. Saturday dinner is wonderful and, if it is your farewell or birthday dinner, there is a surprise.

Sunday is quieter; some go to the colonial church in town and/or wander the farmers’ market. Walks and some classes are held. Our spa is open 7 days a week as is our gym. Some women will go to Taxco or take other excursions in the afternoon. Many groups arrive and leave on Sundays as traffic is less to the airports.

And on Monday you will not have the usual weekend weight gain!

Weekend Tip from Ixtapan Spa: check locally for Mexican silver,stones,woodwork,ceramics,fine pewter- a good place is on line. Then when you shop in Taxco or a stroll away,in Ixtapan de la Sal, you know what to pay. Most merchants no longer bargain, but prices change especially for silver.

Flying to Ixtapan Spa during the Sequester

You will find that air traffic over Mexico City is light and therefore we experience very few delays. In addition, Summer months do not generally have heavy storms we see in our Sun Belt. The Mexico City Airport is modern, clean and has airport shopping: both candy bars and fine jewelry. So flying into MEX, the airport code is a sinch, and we wait for you outside with a clearly marked sign.

Weekend Tip: book your air tonight and recheck your seats at the airport when most airlines open up unused ‘preferred seats’ and only English speakers may sit in exit rows. This is the meal that waits you at least one night a week at Ixtapan Spa.

Mexico Tourism Up as Concerns about Safety Fade

The press, which likes a bad headline, is now writing that safety concerns about Mexico are disappearing. Tourism is up, as Mexico re establishes itself as the best priced and easiest vacation area. Before you wash your hair again, look at the ingredients in your products. At Ixtapan Spa we do our hair treatments with natural tomato, castor, olive and almond oils. Most US shampoos and conditioners are mainly chemicals so try using your pantry for your hair. PS sleeping on a silk pillow case is also good for de-frizzing.

Newark Liberty Airport Upgrades for our Guests from NJ,PA and NY

For those of our guests who take the convenient direct flights from Newark Liberty Airport to Mexico City, United will invest $150 million, $65million to go for catering. Do not think that will change much in the air, but Newark Liberty Airport is used by many Ixtapan guess from NJ, Philadelphia and NY so any upgrading is terrific.

Time to Get Out Your Spring Clothes

Each Spring, we dread trying on those stored clothes. Many of our guests come annually to stay fit during the winter then spruce up in Spring. Weather in our area from April-August remains 60-80.

Our days are delightful even in the Summer when our guests arrive from steamy sun belt states. And fresh fruit on our breakfast buffet is always bursting with flavor. What a way to start a day of fitness and pampering.

Taxco to be the Next Big Mexico Destination

The government of Guerrero signed an agreement to publicize Taxco and other areas to American tourists. As a result, United Airlines and Aeromexico will both increase flights from US cities. If you wish to experience colonial Taxco before the rush, take one of our excursions; Ixtapan Spa offers a Taxco day for a pittance. You will safely wander the cobbled streets, buy bargain silver, and forage for baskets and woodwork, at the stalls on the town plaza. Taxco is the silver capital of Mexico, it is an UNESCO Heritage town, and it is only an hour from Ixtapan de la Sal.
